On the first Sunday of the festivities, Her Majesty Carnaval is received by the millers, dressed in a bonnet, white blouse and trousers, a red scarf, clogs and a
whip.
Illustrating a carnaval tune, the straw dummy has replaced the float for some years now and will serve as the basis for the judgement handed down in Occitan on the
last Sunday, during the night of the Blanquette, the verdict of which will lead to its cremation.
TOQUES & CLOCHERS
Every spring, the Limoux region takes on a festive air with "Toques et Clochers", an event that helps to promote the region's identity and cultural heritage.
The aim of the event is to promote authentic winemaking skills, while helping to preserve the region's heritage.
Throughout the day on Saturday, the streets and tasting cellars of the selected village open their doors to the general public, in a festive and musical
atmosphere.
On Sunday, the best Chardonnays from the four terroirs in the appellation area are auctioned off to top chefs and sommeliers from around the world. Proceeds from
the sale will go towards the restoration of another bell tower in the appellation area.
